                               Pumpkin Bread

    2 2/3  c             sugar
      2/3  c             shortening
    4                    eggs
    1      16 oz         can solid pack pumpkin
      2/3  c             water
    3 1/3  c             all-purpose flour
    2      tsps          baking soda
    1 1/2  tsps          salt
      1/2  tsp           baking powder
    1      tsp           cinnamon
    1      tsp           ground cloves
    1      c             raisins
    1      c             coarsely chopped walnuts
 
 Preheat oven to 350#161#.  Grease bottoms only of 2 loaf pans.  (9x5x3)
 
 Mix sugar and shortening in large bowl.  Mix in eggs, pumpkin, and water. 
 Blend in flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves.  Stir in
 raisins and nuts.  Pour in pans.  Bake 1 hour and 10 min (until toothpick
 comes out clean in center).  Cool 5 min.; remove from pans.  Cool completely
 before slicing.
