                                Bran Muffins

   Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

    2      cups          boiling water
    6      cups          All-Bran® Cereal or Bran Buds -- 13.8 oz box
    1      quart         Buttermilk
    5      cups          flour
    5      teaspoons     soda
    1      teaspoon      salt
    2 1/3  cups          sugar
    1      cup           shortening
    4                    eggs
    2      cups          raisins
 
 Pour boiling water over bran.  Cream shortening and sugar.  Combine
 flour, soda and salt.   Add eggs.  Alternately add flour, milk, and
 Bran.  Fold in raisins.  Fill muffin cups 1/2 full.  Bake @ 400 degrees
 for 25 minutes.  Batter keeps in refrigerator for 6 weeks.  Variations:
 Add shredded apples or carrots and cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.

 NOTES : To use buttermilk powder, combine 1 cup powder with the flour
 and add 1 quart water in place of buttermilk.
