    1      pound         fine cornmeal
    1      T             salt
    1      pinch         baking soda
    1                    egg
    1      T             sugar
 
   Stir, adding water, to thick consistency.  Drop in deep fat by teaspoonfuls.
 Cook in temperature of 375 degrees.  Serves 6. Piedmont Region, North
