       Title: MAPLE SPONGE CANDY

       Yield: 1 Servings
  
       1 c  Maple-flavored syrup
     1/2 c  Sugar
       2 ts White vinegar
       2 ts Baking soda
  
   Butter a 9x9 pan; set aside. In heavy 2-quart saucepan combine syrup,
   sugar, and vinegar. Bring to boiling over medium heat, stirring till sugar
   dissolves. Continue cooking without stirring to 300~ (hard crack stage).
   Remove from heat; quickly stir in soda and mix well. Immediately pour into
   buttered pan; do not spread. Cool; break into pieces. Makes about
       1/2    pound candy.
