2-3 whole tomatoes (remove skin) or 1 large can of whole tomatoes
 chopped basil
 2-3 cloves garlic (to taste)
 balsamic vinegar
 1 red onion, chopped (optional)
 finely chop tomatoes
 add basil, 
 chop, mince or crush garlic. add to the mixture
 add 1 tablespoon chopped red onion
 add approx 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
 salt and pepper to taste.
 serve with italian or french bread
