                             Boston Baked Beans

    2 1/2  c             dried navy or red beans -- soaked overnight
      1/3  c             molasses
      1/4  c             brown sugar
    1      tbsp          dry mustard
      1/4  tsp           cayenne
    1      ts ts         bakon yeast
    2      tsps          tamari soy sauce
    2      med           onions -- chopped coarsely
    2                    bay leaves
    3      cloves        garlic -- minced
    1      tsp           salt
                         fresh ground pepper
 
 Preheat oven to 300¡F.	Rinse and drain beans, cover with fresh water and bring
to a boil for 5 minutes. Rinse and drain again. Whisk together molasses, sugar,
mustard, cayenne, and bakon yeast in a bowl, then mix with the beans. Add onions,
bay leaves, garlic, and pepper. Place in 2-qt baking dish and add water to cover.
Cover and bake until the beans are very soft, 7-8 hours. Check occasionally and
add more water if necessary to keep beans from drying out. Remove lid during last
half hour of cooking.
