                              South Sea Salad

      1/2  c             mayonnaise or salad dressing
      1/2  c             dairy sour cream
      1/4  c             pickle juice
      1/2                peeled avacado -- seeded & mashed
    1      tbsp          snipped parsley
    2      tsp           snipped chives
    1      tsp           dried dillweed
    1      bunch         red tipped lettuce -torn -- (6 cups)
    1      11 oz can     mandarin orange sections -- chilled & drained
    1      c             fresh mushrooms -- sliced
    1      sm            onion, sliced -- separated into rings
    1                    green pepper -- sliced into rings
      1/2                avacado, peeled -- seeded and sliced
 
 DRESSING:  Combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dill pickle juice, mashed avacado, p
 arsley, chives, and dillweed.  Cover and refrigerate.
 Place lettuce in large salad bowl.  Arrange mandarin orange slices, mushrooms, 
 onion and green pepper and avacado attractively atop lettuce.  Toss salad with 
 desired amount of chilled dressing just before serving.
