                    Scalloped Sweetpotatoes With Apples

    3      medium        sweetpotatoes
    4      medium        apples -- pared and cored
      1/2  cup           sugar
      1/2  teaspoon      salt
    3      tablespoons   butter
 
 Cook the sweetpotatoes in boiling water until tender; cook, and skin.  Cut the 
 sweetpotatoes and apples into slices, place in alternate layers in a greased ba
 king dish, sprinkle each layer with sugar and salt, dot with butter, add a litt
 le water and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the to
 p layer is brown.  Serve in the baking dish.
