                           Tamale Corn Casserole

                         Corn Meal Mush:
    2      C.            cold water
    1      C.            corn meal
    1      Tbsp.         butter
      3/4  Tsp.          salt
                         Ground Beef Topping:
    1      Pkg.          whole kernel -- (10 oz.)
                         corn -- frozen in butter
                         sauce
    1      Lb.           ground beef
    1      Can           tomato sauce -- (8 oz.)
    2      Tbsp.         corn meal
    1      Tbsp.         instant minced onion
    1      Can           tomato paste -- (6 oz.)
    1      Can           chopped green -- (4 oz.)
                         chilies or 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    2      Tsp.          chili powder
      3/4  Tsp.          salt
    1      C.            shredded sharp Cheddar cheese -- (4 oz.)
 
 For Corn Meal Mush: Combine all ingredients in 2 quart
 saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, 
 until mixture thickens; reduce heat. Cover; cook over low
 heat about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread evenly
 onto bottom of 2 quart casserole.
 For Ground Beef Topping: Cook corn according to package
 directions. Brown meat; drain. Add corn and remaining
 ingredients except cheese; cook over medium heat about 3
 minutes, stirring constantly. Spoon over corn meal mush; bake
 in preheated 375 degrees oven about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese;
 continue baking 2 or 3 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let
 stand 10 minutes before serving.
