                          Spaghetti alla Carbonara

    1      pound         spaghetti
    8      slices        bacon -- cut crosswise into 1
      3/4  teaspoon      red pepper
      1/4  cup           half and half
    4                    egg -- beaten
    1      cup           Parmesan cheese
    2      tablespoons   butter -- softened
    2      tablespoons   parsley -- fresh, chopped
                         cracked black pepper
                         Parmesan cheese -- Extra
 
 Cook spaghetti as directed
 Meanwhile, fry bacon over moderate heat until crisp. Drain all but 1 tbs of
 fat.  Add the red pepper and the half-and-half.  Keep warm in skillet.
 Beat eggs w/the cheese in a separate bowl. When pasta is tender but firm,
 drain well.  Transfer to a warm serving bowl and mix with the butter. Toss
 the bacon mixture, followed by the egg mixture. Sprinkle with parsley, black
 pepper to taste and Parmesan cheese
