Title: FRESH TOMATO CAKE

1 c Dark brown sugar
1/2 c Shortening
2 Eggs
3 c Flour
2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Nutmeg
1 ts Salt
2 c Fresh ripe tomatoes; peeled,
1/2 c Chopped nuts
1/2 c Chopped dates
1/2 c Chopped raisins
Recipe by: Old Farmer’s Almanac Hearth & Home 1993 Companion Cream sugar
and shortening.Add eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients, mixing wel Stir in
tomatoes, nuts, dates, and raisins. Put into greased and floured 9x inch
baking pan. Bake in preheated 350'F oven for 35 minutes or until cake tests
done. Frost with cream cheese frosting.
