Oatmeal Cake

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup boiling water
1 cup oatmeal
4 ounces margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
TOPPING
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup coconut -- shredded
1/2 cup nuts -- chopped
1/4 cup milk -- or water
1/3 cup margarine -- melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix first three ings. Beat eggs and sugars. Add oat mixture, then the rest of
cake ings. Put into greased 9"x13″ pan. Bake 30-40
min. at 350F. Combine topping ings. and spread on hot cake. Broil till
browned, taking care not to burn it.
