                                Royal Icing

    3      lg            egg whites
      1/2  tsp           cream of tartar
   16      ozs           powdered sugar -- sifted
                         food coloring
 
 Combine whites at room temp and cream of tartar in large mixing bowl.  Beat with
mixer at medium speed until frothy.  Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well. 
Beat 5-7 min.  Color.
