That would be Belle Bennington, 81, who whips up such Mill specialties as maple oatmeal and chocolate pecan, as well as a variety of seasonal pies. For the crust, she uses flour ground in the 1802 water-powered gristmill -- one of th world’s largest. (You can view the mill from the restaurant and get a tour when the mill is in action.) Breakfast is served at the Mil all day, so top off a platter of Belle’s homemade mush with a $2.89 slice of pie. Gushes Satarioan’s daughter, Andrea Hays, “The sugar cream is to die for.” -Clifton Mill, 75 Water St., Clifton, 937/767-5501. Plain Text Version of This Recipe for Printing or Saving | |
