                   Basmati Pullao (Cashew & Raisin Pilaf)

    1                    onion -- chopped
    2      tablespoons   vegetable oil
    1      cup           basmati rice
    2                    cinnamon stick
    2                    cloves
    1                    bay leaf -- crumbled
      2/3  cup           raw cashews -- toasted
      1/3  cup           raisins
 
 Cook onion over low heat until tender.  Add rice, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf,
 cashews, raisins.  Cook for 2 minutes.  Add 2 cups of water; cover.  Bring to
 a boil; reduce heat to low.  Cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
