* Exported from MasterCook * BUTTERMILK-CAYENNE ONION RINGS Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Vegetables Appetizers Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 ea Large sweet onions (Vidalias are fine) 1 ea Egg yolk 1 c Flour 1 tb Cayenne powder 1/4 ts Baking soda 1 1/4 ts Salt 2 c Buttermilk Vegetable oil For deep-frying Slice onions into thin rings. Combine egg yolk, flour, cayenne, baking soda, salt and buttermilk. Mix well. Dip rings into batter and coat thoroughly. Heat oil to 375 degrees; when hot, add rings and fry for 4 to 5 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
